Our Journey

The Churchgate Lakes Fishery was bought in February of 2020 by a man with a vision.

The fishery already had a great reputation - big fish, good facilities, plenty of space - but it had the potential to be so much more.

Starting with general housekeeping and security, the entire complex has been re-fenced, the car park resurfaced and new electric gates installed at the entrance with an RFID ‘tap in’/’tap out’ system for members. (Gates are open 6:30am - 7:30pm automatically) Whilst these jobs were taking place, the lakes got some well needed TLC, over £45,000 was spent on a new complex-wide aeration system providing fish with optimal living conditions right before the hottest period the UK has seen in 17 years. The top lake - which was previously separated into two parts - was dug through and now has two beautiful channels allowing the fish new space to grow and the kinds of patrol routes that carp are accustomed to having in the wild. As the lakes are being worked on one at a time, the top lake has now had SIX brand new swims built. With electricity hook-ups, in-built lights, gravel bases and an inset, robust timber frame, these swims are exactly where the future of carp fishing is going. Complex-wide WiFi has now been installed for all members with speeds of up to 200mbps. There is a private car park for the Top Lake currently being constructed and a shower block being built next to it. There will also be lodges/cabins built on various swims for those of you that prefer a more luxurious camping experience while having rods in the water. All of the changes being made at Churchgate are of top quality with no expense being spared. The vision for Churchgate Lakes is to become the most sought-after fishery in (at least) the South-East of England.

There are plans for a FULL Café/Brasserie refurbishment, with breakfast and lunch orders already being taken at your swim and delivered when ready. There will also be a porter service available for taking your equipment to your swim and storage facilities for storing your fishing equipment at the lakes. There is a stock pond currently being excavated behind the lake complex and there will be another 40 25+lb fish being stocked and ultimately released into our Top Lake. Our tackle shop has undergone an enormous facelift, with Mainline Baits installing a 7m racking across the back wall (1 of only 4 in the UK) and an additional 15 suppliers being added to our stock. Eventually we will be operating an online store for additional purchases of tackle and baits. We will be sharing our story and progress via our site and social media platforms in the coming months.
